    Lambert and Gokey! They’re consistent.

  2. Yoli Says:

This years AI is the best thus far. Lambert, Gokey are both consistent and very talented..Megan, well I feel sorry for her that Simon didn’t give her a second chance to sing. :( even though she did that weird bird thing and claimed she didn’t care.

Lambert and Gokey are fer sure the top 2!

  3. AI junkie Says:

HAHA, you are so NOT part of the AIanon group. YES! So thanks for you bluntly honest opinion and just being a true dork. Could not agree more w/ your Vblog

  4. Steve Isaacs Says:

AI: Yes, AI does bring out the dork in me, truth be told :)

  5. Kathryn Kinney Says:

I vibrate with every word you say here, damn Steve, everything you said about the courage of these people, and how Simon is amazing, Paula on drugas and YOU imitating a chicken?!? hahahaha!! Oh God, I’m just addicted.

  6. Ryan Terry Says:

I’m a Gokey fan. My friends say he looks like a combo of Robert Downy Jr. and ME. Not sure about the me part. Last season wasn’t so great and I thought I wouldn’t watch AI this year, but I got sucked in a bit recently. Nice to know I’m not the only dude in NYC that watches.

  7. HM Says:

Sorry to hear you have to work so much. But I´m wondering WHAT EXACTLY are you doing at Deep Focus? 12 hours of brain-storming – does that mean 12 hours of sitting around thinking and discuss your thoughts and ideas with others? Just wondering…

  8. Deeeda Says:

Love the vlog. Nice to put a voice and visuals with the tweets. :) I agree with all your comments…you have great perspective, but that’s not a surprise considering your profession. I’m curious though, when you said who you think will make it through to the final few, that you mentioned Danny and Adam and that Allison should be there but may not be….but you didn’t mention Kris Allen. No love connection there? I really like him and feel he could be a contender for the title if Adam somehow falls from grace. I think Lil and Matt Giraud are also good but not exceptional, although I think Lil could be if she was steered in better directions. Anyway, my question is what do you think of Kris in the overall scheme of things, and I’m curious if you were/are a fan of David Cook. I’m an AI addict as well, as you can see. :)

  9. Matthew Burrows Says:

Our culture in this country is being sold down the toilet…and Simon Cowell is the fucker behind…that twat is resposible for why 12 year old girls think there going to be discovered and marry English football stars and become WAGS. That fucker needs to be taken down.

  10. Matthew Burrows Says:

If Simon Cowell had his way, there would be no Only Ones…because the singer had a monotone voice, ditto for Paul Westerberg, ditto for Nick Drake, and Dylan. Imagine if the Velvet Underground had turned up on American Idol or the British version, No disrespect to yourself Steve….how can’t you defend such obvious narcissistic cunt as Cowell…have we not had enough of Business Men in the music industry…or would you rather have a thousand Kelly Clarksons…above one Tim Buckley.

  11. Steve Isaacs Says:

Deeeda: Kris Allen is pretty damn talented. I thought he was great last week when the judges gave him a bunch of crap. Self-indulgent? Why? Didn’t make sense to me. I think he’s really good, but a little vanilla for me. A good 3rd placer.

  12. Steve Isaacs Says:

Matthew: Simon Cowell rules. He’s not trying to be the A&R man for the whole universe, he’s just one guy with an opinion that’s televised every week. American Idol is trying to find a huge, mass market pop star, not a Paul Westerberg or Nick Drake. What’s great about Cowell is he is unabashedly honest, which is unique and refreshing. I agree with him about 98% of the time.

If the Velvet Underground showed up on AI they would be morons, that’s not the place for them. Just because AI isn’t for ALL types of music doesn’t mean that it’s not a totally interesting talent competition, and that’s all it really is – a talent competition and nothing more.

I don’t give a shit about the winners, or their music. I just like the battle high wire act every week leading up to the winner.

  13. Matthew Burrows Says:

That’s a very good point Steve…I really don’t like pop music anyway, I still have a problem with the Pet Shop Boys…which is really silly…because they say themselves they are just making pop music.

The thing is we have a huge obsession with reality TV stars in this country….and it does seem to be damaging real artistic expression.

In Liverpool it has to get past the Beatles for example…its hard for a artist to be different. You live in New York…it seems to be a town interested in artists..Teddy Thompson lives there…as does my hero Steve Earle….there seems to be a lot going on. Its hard to find for Liverpool to break out of the Merseybeat mold. You would never get a Hip Hop artist being successful and being scouse.

  14. HM Says:

If you like AI you must check out this bit from the British version…

I read that he was quite keen do a Home and Away appearence Lol. do you know if this is true? There’s a bit of me that kind of hopes this is not true lol.

  16. Fae Kleinkopf Says:

I really loved the final 5 Idol group song last night. It was sad to see Aaron Kelly got rid of but I believe the others were better so he needed to go!
