04-13-09: First video after having my video camera lost/stolen. New camera, new start. Tired to edit this on Final Cut Express, but realized that I wanted to kill myself after 2 hours of struggling with the program and ran back to iMovie ‘09 with my tail between my legs.

You make me laugh.
Good cam….quality of the video is really excellent! Looking forward to upcoming vids of Providence as I’ve never been there either but hear that part of the U.S. is beautiful. Thanks for sharing…love these vlogs. Have a good one!

Another great one Steve…you don’t need to do better. I wonder why more people are not doing this.

Your wearing a Summer Heights High tie shirt…one of the best things out of oz since Midnight Oil.

The more I watch your videos, the more I am addicted to your vlog/life/you. It’s just SO cool to watch it and your purple hair kinda hipnotizes me cause it fits so well w/ the color of ur eyes. Besides of it, I wish the same to the person who stole your cam. And IF you feel in the mood to talk about it next vlog, Susan Boyle is becoming famous and as you said you like american idol, you’ll probably like it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lp0IWv8QZY

Thanks Kathryn.
Yeah, I saw the Susan Boyle thing – really cool. Only thing that seemed weird was how it was edited with all the background music and stuff, can’t tell if that is how it originally aired or if a YouTuber mixed it up for maximum emotional response. Something fishy about it…

Yeah man, iMovie is nice an simple but a pain in the ass, as far as I’m concerned. Mainly because there are not multiple tracks of video available. I’m sure you’ll let us know how your experience with Final Cut Express goes, but let me know either way, ’cause I’m eyeballing new software. Obviously did not work for this one.

I’m gonna keep trying FCE, but it’s going to have to be a learning process. I was hoping to just switch and be done with it, but no way I can. I’m like a baby in the dark with a learning disability with that one.

hahaha. so cool. ur back. and I have had things “stolen” from me in the past and agree that the thieves (ur’s & mine) should pseudo-die a looong, painful, everlasting in-between existance in a beautiful surrounding that they cannot touch, smell or ever reach. Only SEE the unattainable — FOREVER. hahaha. ur vlogs great. looking forward to RI pix’s.

See if any of the three or four NY Apple locations are holding workshops for it! Free, basic advice.
5th Ave, W 14th, or SoHo. Whichever’s closest.
Can you tell I’m an Apple junkie, too?

Glad you’re back on the vids steve. Great watch….at least I think it was. I watched the video that Kathryn posted and forgot what I was going to say.
Oh, yeah – more vids great! I can’t wait to see the stuff you are going to edit. I like the ‘location shots’ with the music inserts…miss those. And I liked the personal screen commentary. Cracked me up!
p.s. the sound on this vid was really low. fyi.

Great another reason for for Hoboken, NJ to get a bad rap, the place where you camera was stolen. Besides what exactly were you doing in Hoboken? If you ever come back make sure you go to Louise & Jerry’s. It’s a small bar located on Washington street thats one of the few cool bars in Hoboken and it has a great Jukebox that you’d probably like. The other cool places in Hoboken being Maxwells and DC’s

Mike: I actually lived in Hoboken for 6 months back in the day. I love the town itself, one of my favorite places in New York, just don’t dig the Jersey Guy vibe. I was there on a lark just to walk around and get out of the city. We went to Gaslight and O’Niels, and I must have left it at one of those places. Grrrrr.
Thanks for the tips!

Dafire: Thanks. Didn’t notice that. I’m working on it.

This post reminds me of the Kids in the Hall Skit “An Open Letter to the Guy who Stole my Bike Wheel”:

Are the tattoos on your left arm new?
April 17th, 2009 at 9:26 am
HM: Nope, had most of them for a few years. The latest one is the rose, got that about 3 years ago.

I think you should do a whole vlog on your “scrambled” gesture hahaha

I lost a laptop almost 9 years ago on the train here in Salt Lake. More than anything, I miss the data on it. That’s all I wanted to get off of it. Sucks that no one returned the camera. Glad you have another one, though and kudos to BestBuy for giving you a deal on it.
As for Final Cut Express, it’s a challenge, but once you learn it, the editing process is nothing and so much more powerful. I’ve completely ditched iMovie 06. I’ve tried iMovie 08 several times and my struggle with it is equal to yours with Final Cut Express. To this viewer, your videos are excellent, even though I know they take some time to edit.

I almost lost my camcorder at the San Diago airport. I was on the bus that takes you to your rental car, and I freaked out cause I could not find it. I told my dad and he said we should go back and look for it. and that it is doubtfull I would find it. I was just hopping beoned hope I would. I DID FIND IT! it was just in its camcorder bag on one of the chairs. But it was soo scary those minets between when I figured out I didnt have it to the time I found it.
I love your vlogs always have always will. I hope so much that you get your camcorder back.
