Steve – AWESOME video and now I really really really really want to see Coraline.

I really didn’t enjoy Corpse Bride – I wanted SO much to love it and I fell asleep both times I saw it. Johnny Depp and Danny Elfman couldn’t even save it for me. Most of the songs were weird. It looked beautiful though. It was kind of like Beetlejuice in the way that Victor’s world was like the Maitlands, and I just wanted to really hang with Beetlejuice (who is only in something like 10 mins of that movie, BTW!?!)

I ADORED Coraline. Loved loved loved it.

The twins (age 7), as well as the ‘older’ girls (ages 9 and 11) all LOVED Coraline and were not freaked/scared in the slightest beyond what would be expected from like the monkey/witch sequence at the end of Wizard of Oz. they have been bugging me and Chris since we saw the screening a few weeks back to go again.

(Chris, who REALLY hates seeing movies in the theatre, and doesn’t much care for animation, loved it so much SHE is suggesting we go see it again in the theatre… not bad!)

Also, great seeing you last week, and excellent looking design and layout on the new site man. Well done!

Steve, I just saw Coraline last night… well, you know that I am a dreamworker living in Ashland, Oregon where the film story was set (my house is Victorian but purple, not pink)… the dreamy/Ashland aspects of the film were beyond synchronistic for me! My take on the last half hour or so was that she had had to develop her lucid dreaming skills throughout the whole movie– which translated into increased bravery in either reality. Also it was about appreciating our children, and appreciating our parents– recognizing illusions for what they are and all that good stuff. I haven’t taken them yet but I am confident my 10 year old and 13 year old will love it. I think Coraline is an excellent role model for children (and adults) because she does not cower in fear of adversarial energies which threaten to dominate her. More of us could practice that I think… which is what lucid dreaming skills help to develop. Great movie.

I couldn’t agree more! I kept saying, “hmm, that’s kinda intense for a kid.” Yet I thought it was targeted at kids.

I’d say what I think, but you pretty much covered it. I still can’t get over how it was all done with clay! Did you watch the making of by chance? Unreal!

“full dose of nightmare fuel”…fuggin hi sterical!

When Sophie was ONE year old, her favorite movie was The Corpse Bride (is my kid wierd?). I agree with Theresa’s comment about TCB (hmmm….coincidence?)except that after I sat through it a couple more times with Sophie, I LOVED it. Even those songs became great to me. I bet I would love Coraline….that is, if I ever get to a movie theatre again.

    …or weird even.
